Catharanthus roseus or Vinca Rosea is an annual flower native to Madagascar, Europe and India. Vinca, also known as Periwinkle, is a heat-tolerant annual flower which can also survive as a perennial. It is an easy to grow flower with glossy green foliage and attractive star-shaped petals in a variety of colours. Vinca flowers have also been used for medicinal purposes including as a cure for high blood pressure, high sugar levels, lung infections and sore throats. A lot of gardeners choose to plant Vinca flower as edging flower, border flower, and ground cover or bedding plant cover for their relatively drought-tolerant nature.
